Welcome to the Kindness Page!

It’s my symbol of HOPE side

I am hoping to bring you great stuff

About acts of kindness, angels, and miracles

So people will read them

And want to create more of the same

Sending more HOPE into the world

Would be so easy to do

And with the help of angels - human or spirit

We could also perform a few miracles

While creating this page, I saw a 1970s PBS show with Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes who performed one of their greatest hit songs, “Wake Up Everybody.”  I had completely forgotten this song until I heard it.  And while I danced around in my living room to this familiar tune, I questioned if the world had gotten a little bit better since the seventies.  And while I believe it has - I also believe it could use a facelift here and there.

With that being said - I wanted to remind everyone who grew up with this song and spark the younger crowd to look it up.  For me, this song is a powerful reminder about how we can all change, not only ourselves but the people and the world around us.

YouTube:  First performed on stage on November 22, 1975, it is a classic Soul Train performance to watch Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes with Teddy Pendergrass singing lead vocals.  The original rhythm & blues song was written by John Whitehead, Gene McFadden, and Victor Carstarphen.  John Legend did an interesting remake of the song in 2010.

Thank you, Scott, for adding the beauty to one of my favorite quotes.

The Kindness Page was Inspired in October 2023 by an article I read by Rabbi Leslie Y. Gutterman, rabbi emeritus of Temple Beth-El in Providence. It’s about a miracle and the unknown kindness of a human angel. It’s a story that can spread the inspirational act of kindness back into the world one sentence at a time. It’s what the world needed back then and it’s what the world needs now!  Thank you, Rabbi, for sharing your inspirational miracle story on my kindness page.

Needing, and Needing TO BE, The Angels In Our Lives

A light snow was falling. It was Munich in Nazi Germany. My friend’s great aunt Susie was in a bus when SS Storm Troopers stopped and began examining the identification papers of the passengers. Jews were told to get into a truck around the corner. Susie trembled, tears streaming down her face. The man next to her politely asked why she was crying.

“I don’t have the papers you have. I am a Jew. They’re going to take me.” The man exploded with disgust. He began to scream, “You stupid hag! I can’t stand being near you.” The SS soldiers asked what the yelling was about. “My wife forgot her papers again. She always does this.” The soldiers laughed and moved on. She never saw the man again and never knew his name.

Has someone ever appeared in your life like an angel just when you needed help? Or have you ever filled that role in someone else’s life, maybe even a stranger’s?

There used to be a column in the Washington Post called "Random Acts of Kindness."  Accounts of such acts snowballed. Evidence mounted that wallets and purses were being returned. Strangers ran to someone if they fell. There was a good chance that the angel was of a different color or spoke with a different accent than the victim and wanted nothing in return.

In Jewish tradition, an angel is a heavenly messenger with a special mission. The ancient rabbis say that angels are the name we give to the natural forces God uses to accomplish divine ends. Maimonides, the medieval philosopher, believed that anyone entrusted with a mission could be a divine messenger.

American author Leo Buscaglia puts it this way:  Scores of people are waiting for someone just like us to come along. They need our compassion, our encouragement, and our unique talents and will live a happier life because we took the time to share what we had to give.

Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or even the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around. In other words, there is someone waiting to provide an opportunity for us to become their angel.

Our country is in dire straits.  In the wake of the hostage-taking of a rabbi and four of his congregants, the Jewish community is painfully aware of hate crimes.  Indeed, all crime rates have risen, along with drug overdoses and battles over mask mandates. In a recent column, David Brooks cited the uptick in polarization, hatred, anger and fear.  His analysis is dark: “There is a long-term loss of solidarity, a long-term rise in estrangement and hostility. This is what it feels like to live in a society that is dissolving from the bottom up as much as the top down…  As a columnist, I’m supposed to have some answers.   But I just don’t know right now.”

There may not be easy answers or quick fixes. But that doesn’t mean we don’t have the power to make an impact. We can’t assess the difference that we can make in someone’s life and indeed in our broken world. But that is how the world can become better, by influencing for good one life at a time.

Angels have never been needed more. What are you waiting for?

Angels R With US was inspired by two events:  During COVID-19, I decided to take classes on the topic of angels.  And while taking my first, “Pandemic get out of the house day trip,’” I visited the Sandwich Boardwalk in Cape Cod.  While walking on the wooden engraved boards, I  stopped to social distance and I moved over and let someone go by me.  I turned around to the wooden board pictured above directly at my feet.

I knew immediately that an angel spirit was reminding me - of not only my spiritual existence but theirs.  And yes angelsRwithus.com became one of my domains.  I hope to make it an official non-profit someday.

Whether the angels we meet in our lives are human or spirit or they are just sending us a sign, I am sure there are more stories about angels than people hear about each day.

You can read more about angels and angel stories in the blog below - but in the meantime ask yourself some of these questions.

Have you ever encountered a human or spirit angel who came into your life just when you needed a little bit of kindness the most? Or seen a sign telling you something you needed to know at that very moment or inspired you to do something you have been thinking about doing?  Did you ever wonder how things like this come to be?

Do you believe it Is a God or a higher power assisting people by allowing angels to appear and help others or are stories like these inspired by our vibrations of need that we send into the universe - unknowingly seeking help from others?  And does our inner being know that at any given moment we will attract just the right person or an angel who can help us on our journey?

I have always loved angel stories - they are among my favorites to read.  The stories below are for your enjoyment and to give all of us who find ourselves on this page something good to read.  I am also hoping that it will inspire us to continue to look for more miracles of kindness so it can be a reminder to perform and create more random acts of kindness - just because we can.

I know myself that many times just a simple smile directed at a stranger or a kind word is all that is needed to change a person’s outlook or someone’s disposition in life.  Let’s face it - have you ever had a day when you needed a miracle or wished for more kindness or an angel to help you?  I think everyone does.

Do you need an angel today?  Or can you be an angel to someone else?  Do you need a sign to inspire you so you can move forward with anything you desire - possibly a business adventure or a healing of some kind?  Or do you know someone else looking for inspiration?  If so ask for sincere help from your higher power of choice, or ask the universe and expect a miracle for yourself.  Maybe you could also ask for a miracle for someone else - when you are finished asking, let go and surrender but do not forget to pay attention.  You may be surprised at what appears at your feet.

Great stories up ahead - Created and made to inspire!

Complete happiness, joy and kindness could follow. And maybe a miracle or two!
