You were born to be Great - I was born to help!
I have always believed that people are born to be not only great but be the best they can be - doing anything they put their minds to. And because I knew I wanted to teach in first grade - I knew I was born to help people.
Believe it or not, I began teaching dance in grade school and continued to work mostly all of my life teaching and coaching in one form or another. When I became a holistic life coach it became one more extension of what I love to do the most.
Long before I became a coach, I always believed that thinking spiritually, without a mind full of perceptions was the way to a happier life. Human perceptions tend to swing us into fear-based thinking. And fear base thinking makes us run our life with stress and survival becoming our priority.
I was lucky - knowing I was born to teach and write. And when I realized that stress and survival took over my life, I learned to walk differently. My favorite collection of books by category is the power of our thoughts. And as versed as I am in spiritual and holistic education, I still have days when I have to teach and coach myself.
To give you some background, I started training my thoughts to change many things as a young adult. I was a high school dropout with below average grades who went back to school to complete a GED. Eventually, I signed up for college so I could make a better living. And lucky for me, I was presented with an opportunity to attend a university - graduating with a BA in Journalism. Through the years, I have also continued my holistic education completing Reiki I and II certifications, hospice training, and other spiritual classes.
Today when I look in a mirror, and my ego tells me I am not great - I walk away and find the reflection that tells me I AM! WE are not our egos, our thoughts, and our perceptions. WE are spiritual beings living in a human body so we can learn how to be greater within ourselves, improve and repair the world around us, in order to help and be kind to others!
Joyful Notes
Karen was able to relate to me and opened my eyes to some steps I need to take to improve my current situations with new goals in mind.
She has such positive energy, something I recognized I need to change in myself. And she helped me to find ways to use my past and current experiences to tackle new challenges as I move forward.
I enjoyed our encounter. Anne S.
Karen is compassionate and she listened to what I was feeling which helped me to open up and see new goals. Together we were able to break through my heartbreak so I could see brand new beginnings in my future.
My shoulders are lighter. Maggie H.
I realized that two minds are better than one when untangling deeply ingrained, thoughts and behaviors. Karen helped me to focus on areas where mindfulness can sometimes break down and how simple, easy, every day habits can make a difference.
We also reinforced the benefits of becoming more mindful with new habits for very practical reasons like saving time and eliminating unnecessary frustration when doing things and not thinking about something else.
Solution is to mindfully do it. So brilliantly simple!
Thank you, Karen! John D.
My Journey To Becoming A Coach
Years ago, I read a book called “The Dragon Doesn’t Live Here Anymore,” by Alan Cohen. I read this book to improve my life, sometimes highlighting every page. I lived by this book’s philosophies and it served me well.
During the world’s great lockdown - I took several classes on line – and after purchasing several more of Alan’s books and studying many other topics, I decided to see what else the world had to offer.
Low and behold, Alan had a free weekly program called the coaching room. The coaching room opened up two things in my life. It filled a void for me not being with as many people and the more I watched the coaching room the more I wanted to incorporate these spiritual teachings into my life. Within a year I decided to apply for the life coaching course.
The path to sign up for coaching proved to be an interesting adventure. I wanted to do the course completely on line. Alan did not teach the entire course on line – travel to another state was needed to complete the requirements. My inner being kept nudging me to just do it and the outside world kept telling me traveling now would not be possible. And that is when I decided to let go and let the universe resolve this dilemma I felt so passionate about.
It only took about three weeks for the retreat center to cancel Alan’s one week, must attend and travel retreat schedule because of Covid. And for the first and only time ever Alan’s coaching certificate program was available to a new group of people completely on line. In addition, I had put away money about five years prior and it was the exact amount I needed for payment.
The course was everything and more than I expected and I highly recommend it even if you do not want to be a life coach. And after working really hard, seventeen people from all over the world and I completed and graduated with a degree of certification from the Alan Cohen Foundation for Holistic Life Coaching.
Today, I look forward to many more new adventures in coaching and teaching spiritual classes. For I know that when I began to change and heal my life by letting go of my obstacles, and looking forward to what the world has to offer me, I would also be able to help others do the same.
If you have any questions about coaching, please contact me. In the meantime, if you need to resolve anything in your life, let go of it and let the universe do its thing. You may be surprised with the results.
“When you choose to be content and let go, the universe steps in and guides you.
And the path moving forward becomes completely effortless.” Karen Lea
I Knew I Wanted To Teach
I believe everyone is born with certain talents that bring them joy. Besides writing, I love to teach and coach because I love to experience joy when someone I help spreads their wings and does something they thought they could not do!
I knew I wanted to be a teacher in first grade and I have been teaching since I was 9 years old. I came home from my first dance lesson and turned my family’s extra living room into a dance studio teaching my dolls and my poodle how to do acrobatics. I also taught my friends at school on our lunch breaks moving on to teaching children and adults most of my life.
I found out in college that if I could teach dance, I could teach computers and therefore I could teach anything that I could learn first. Today I have made my holistic life coaching degree my spiritual side of teaching by coaching children, individuals and groups how to find ways to improve their lives.
I know teaching and coaching is one of the things I was born to do. And when I teach or coach anyone, I do it so the individual can move on to being completely independent, taking their new skills to new heights so they can explore more of what the world has to offer them.
I find that when my students or clients have more skills and confidence, they can change what they want in their life and move on to anything they dream is possible. I have lots of experience helping people learn new skills, heal their past emotionally and manage their physical and mental disabilities all because I believe in three things - everyone is capable of change, all human beings can do whatever they desire and we all have the inner knowledge to help ourselves.
I also believe that everyone has two sides - a spirit and an ego. For myself, my spiritual side is like an angel waiting to learn how to fly higher. And I don’t know about you but my ego side can and does sometimes talk louder than my spirit especially when she is feeling too much pressure, not getting enough me time or if she challenges her spirit and refuses to use the voice of reason or love.
If you want guidance with a certain goal, are trying to improve your life in some way, need to heal from your past, want to better your life or you want to tame your ego, even just a little - please contact me. I make no promises to the egos but I guarantee your spirit will learn how to fly higher, gain new insight and confidence, teach your ego to speak more softly, nudge your human self into the moment and give your ego a tender punch now and then!
When you do what you love, time will disappear and the joy you experience in those moments will last a lifetime. Karen Lea
Our name - BEE The Blessing, was inspired by the bumble bee…
BEE - BE Extra Extraordinary
The name of my coaching business, as well as my bumble bee mascot, was inspired by a story of the bee as told by A.S. Waldrop. This story reminds my ego to trust in my spirit because nothing is impossible.
According to laws of aerodynamics the bumble bee cannot fly; its body is too heavy for its wings. But the bumble bee doesn’t know this simple fact, and so it flies anyway.
If you are like the bumblebee and you do not know you can fly, you will be able to change anything. If you are not like the bumblebee and you believe that flying is impossible, even though it is not, we may need to work on your wings.
Either way you will be right. When you think you can - you can. And if you think you cannot - you cannot!

Quotes to Ponder
“I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it.” - NELSON MANDELA
The secret of change is to focus all of your energy, not on fighting the old, but building the new.” - SOCRATES
“Everything you see in the outer world represents a thought in your mind.” - ALAN COHEN
“If you want something new be open to having it come from anywhere, any place, any person.” - SANAYA ROMAN
All that a man achieves and that he fails to achieve is the direct results of his own thoughts…. His condition is his own, and not another man’s. His suffering and his happiness are evolved from within. As he thinks, so he is; as he continues to think, so he remains.”
From the book As a Man Thinketh by James Allen
I was not introduced to this poem until I was an adult. Therefore, I am posting it so others can enjoy it today. The word desiderata means something that is needed or wanted. Integrity was a desideratum. The poem did not become famous until after the author passed away. Today you can find it printed on lots of inspirational items.
Desiderata by Max Ehrmann
Go placidly amid the noise and the haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible, without surrender, be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even to the dull and the ignorant; they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons; they are vexatious to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain or bitter, for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals, and everywhere life is full of heroism.
Be yourself. Especially do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment, it is as perennial as the grass.
Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be. And whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace in your soul. With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.
