Sir Captain Guilt
Written for anyone fighting a battle
I don’t know what it feels like
To survive a war so tough
But I do know that I cried the day
A loved one left me with lots of discarded stuff
I missed him more than anyone
I blamed myself for all the doubt
I wished that day - never to be
And walked around like a see through mouse
It took me years to find a direction
I did lots of unwise things
And when I faced the music
I found I could no longer sing
But then I discovered my inner voice
It took a long time to heal
Because when all is said and done
I still could not change – him or me
I want to send this message
To you who may think twice
About taking your precious life
Because the guilt is too much to fight
So please just think about your family
And whom they will eventually blame
Because they will forever miss you
I promise, that will never change
And life will still move on without you
There will always be dark days
Where they still cannot live with the truth
Even though they know they were not to blame
They will always walk like a see through mouse
They will have judgments to move around and doubt
They will always fault themselves first - not you
Because they did not see
And they could not save – you

If you are contemplating suicide, please think about yourself and others whom love you dearly and wait until tomorrow. When you wake up tomorrow, it will be today and one day at a time you can make changes. Tomorrow will never come if you make every day today! And one day at at time you can change the future for yourself and for the people you love.
Suicide leaves more than one person dead. As a human being you deserve to have more! And seeking help is not a weakness but a strength. If you or someone you know needs strength please call: The National Suicide Helpline 1-800-273-8255 or dial 988. You can also go to 988lifeline.org. Or text STRENGTH to the crisis text line at 741741. Suicide is permanent - you cannot make changes once you are on the other side.
