We Are Spirits

We forget that when we lose someone

Young or suddenly

Or because it is their time

That he or she

Is going back to their beginnings

We are borrowed spirits

Learning to be complete

Dressed up like human beings

To experience what angels see

Every day as our guardians

For a period of time

We are all here for a reason

It is up to us to fulfill that purpose

So someday we can return

To our door step with integrity

We fall in love with each other

We get married to someone special

Some of us have children

Many stay single, just because

Others hold partners for life

We become teachers, carpenters and presidents

Housekeepers, chefs, nurses and artists

Many are accomplished in their life’s work

Some are very lucky – they do what they love every day

But all of us have at least one true intention

We pay bills, taxes and buy houses

We sometimes see the world in pictures

We have celebrations with family

And when we no longer breathe

We leave behind the ones that miss us

We forget that we are all connected

To the energy that surrounds each of us

Every day we are in our place

Whether or not we are present

Or moving to and from paradise

Some people call this connection, a life force

There are many who believe in nothing

Others call it universal chi

Some refer to it as a Greater Being

It doesn’t matter what we call it

God, Allah, Jehovah or A Power Greater Than

But no matter what our beliefs are

We are all spirits living on earth

And when we leave to go back

There is a part of us that stays

Our memories of unconditional love

Live on inside of the people we cared about

Therefore, our souls are always connected

And the energy that we create

The meaning of our visit

Will never be forgotten

And no matter what our race or color

Our love will always be present

When we go back to our beginnings

We are energy of pure love

We are souls made up of spirit

Sometimes complete - sometimes not

We always watch over the rest

And we look forward to their return

Someday our lives will be completely done

Our world will be perfect in every way

We will all be together, always connected

And joy will not be something we strive for

We will never be dressed in cloth
